Call for Solidarity with Free Syria

Assad is done and dusted. This is settled history.

Now there is a serious and urgent need to consolidate a new government in Syria under a coalition of groups who were at war with each other just recently. The order for foreigners concerned with the fate of the Arab people is not to bicker to cheerlead but to protect the vulnerable transitional country from outside military aggression by the Zionist occupation and by Turkey.

In light of this, a focus on messaging that all is now lost, hand-wringing over minorities in the typical colonial fashion, and tarring and feathering those who, whether one likes it or not, are now charged with defending Syria from foreign aggression, as terrorists or whatever, is a line of messaging that is in extremely poor taste and potentially very serious consequences to the Syrian people.

The US, just days ago charged with orchestrating this transfer of power and of arming the rebellion, has participated in the Zionist-led airstrikes against Syrian military infrastructure, destroying suspicions that the US intends to use Syria as another Jordan or Egypt. These criminal bombings have also targeted research facilities, government buildings, and civilian infrastructure of that nature.

It can be noted that even in the event that these airstrikes are successful in destroying 100% of this infrastructure, that is not where the martial might of the country now lies. That’s with the rebellion groups. So all is far from lost in this regard. It is a loss the likes of which are to be expected at a time like this, but it is hardly the end.

However, the victorious rebellion has its hands tied in responding to this aggression for political reasons relating to a lack of international recognition. This is where foreign solidarity efforts have a place.

The Zionists have done a great favour to the Arabs by making it clear that they have no intention of peace with a Free Syria. Although the Syrians are eager to live lives of peace, this insane behaviour has radicalised them against the occupation very quickly. Free Syria is now much more incentivised for conflict with them than Assad was.

At the same time, the imperialist powers are now incentivised to withhold that recognition. The greatest short-term victory that the Zionists can win against Syria is not military, it is diplomatic.

The conflict between the Zionists and the Arabs is now clear and natural and there is nothing that any incoming government of any country can do to obscure it any longer. Arab normalisation of the occupation is a crumbling legacy policy which can only dislodge further with every development; it can never be re-enforced, no matter what happens.

A long history of disappointment has led to a loss of faith in the Arabs, and so, many have deviated from the correct stand of Commander Deif on 7 October to appeal to support from the Arabs for the eventual victory of the Palestinian Resistance. Instead, some have begun to treat this as an inter-imperial conflict, rising or falling by Russia. But the Arabs’ right to the inheritance of their share of the crumbling American empire is the main thing at issue here. It should not be given to Russia or any other imperialist “ally”.
